Casino Parties – never the same!

The casino parties we go to are in some was similar but never the same. Sometimes it depends on the location, sometimes the event, sometimes even the people. In my experience, however different they are, they’re always a great success. Here are three quite different casino parties we’ve attended recently that helps prove the point.

Casino Party for a 30th Birthday

Heather contacted us over a year ago as she was organising her son’s 30th birthday party in a well known golf club near Bristol. We knew the venue – ideal for the size of party Heather planned. There was to be around seventy guests for her Vegas themed event. As well as the fun casino, she’d booked a good DJ and an Elvis tribute.

Good Planning.

As the big day drew near, Heather was sure to confirm with all suppliers everything was in place. However, when we showed up an hour or so before guests were due to arrive – disaster struck! The club’s electricity had blown and there was no power in the building at all. Decorations that had been so lovingly placed that afternoon had to be removed and everyone asked to leave the building. Heather was in tears.

Elvis Enters the Building (and Saves the Day)

Amazingly, all was not lost. ‘Elvis’ came to the rescue as he knew of an available local village hall. One phone call later and we all helped ‘up sticks’ and moved to the hall. Tears were replaced with laughter. Everyone helped from pinning banners to shopping in Tesco for drinks and ordering 50 or so take-away pizzas!  Our  casino tables were full of very happy guests and although the ‘surprise’ element had been abandoned when disaster struck, the birthday boy had the best night ever – and so did everyone else.

Casino Party for Weddings

We have seen, over the last few years how fun casinos are gaining in popularity. In particular, a fun casino at your wedding party is guaranteed to be popular. From eight to eighty, guests have enjoyed the thrill of a flutter with no risk. In recent times, with people able to hold their ceremony wherever they like, we have attended all sorts of venues big and small.

A Venue fit for a Wedding

Taylor and Josh’s wedding took place at the wonderful St Audries Park https://www.audries-park.co.uk/. We are proud to be a preferred supplier here. Even though the venue is familiar to us, the wedding parties are always catered to the specific wishes of the bride and groom. In this case, our couple had definite ideas on how they wanted the day to be. They wanted to balance the formality of the grand country house with the lovely laid back and casual atmosphere created by family and friends enjoying a wonderful day.

Fun Casino Highlights

For Taylor and Josh we took our two most popular games, roulette and  blackjack. As requested we opened the gaming right after the wedding breakfast speeches. Each guest had found their fun money in the favours envelope (Taylor asked us to send them the customised notes earlier). We were busy from the word ‘go’ with young and old competing for a high roller’s prize. Our worthy adult winner was presented with bottle of champagne. Our youngest players were awarded medals. All in all, this proved popular with young and old. Pics by kind permission of Ash at https://www.firstlightphotographyweddings.co.uk/

Casino Party in a Field

Yes. No need to read that again! Our latest fun casino event took place in a field! Al fresco dealing was super fun and thankfully, although there were one or two showers, we were covered. The blackjack table was snug in front of a casino self standing banner. Cards and strong breezes don’t really go well together! Our roulette table I must admit, was not perfectly level. This gave the casino dealer the odd vertigo sensation. However it certainly didn’t give players any better idea of what number the ball was going to drop in.

Three in one Go!

If ever there was a good example of how versatile fun casinos are, this surely was a good one. Emma, who had made the booking told us the party was a combined celebration of her two adult son’s birthdays and her wedding anniversary. Their farm and gorgeous meadow provided the perfect backdrop for the event. Two and three sided tents gave cover to the disco, casino, buffet and seating area. Once the casino tables opened, betting was fast and furious with several more experienced players urging on the rest.

Casino parties – Never the Same – Always Good Fun

If people ask me why I run fun casinos I think the above heading says it all. Along with the other people that make up the Aces Fun Casinos team, I really appreciate the variety of venues, locations and lovely people that I meet. ‘Variety is the spice of life’ as the saying goes. Long live the difference!

Roulette or Blackjack?

Roulette or blackjack? This is a question I’m often asked. Which is the most popular casino game? Let’s take a look at them both as comparisons are difficult when they are two completely different games.

Roulette

Roulette – or to call it by it’s full name – American Roulette is the game most often seen in fun casinos and ‘real’ casinos. Not be be confused with the slower version of French Roulette and (heaven forbid) certainly not with Russian Roulette!

Roulette wheel
Roulette Wheel and chips

The wheel in the image is a typical American roulette wheel. Around the wheel are the various colours. Each player is given their own colour betting chips. This ensures that everyone knows whose bet is whose.

How is it played? Roulette is a game of chance. There’s no science to it. There are, on the table layout, 36 numbers and zero. The croupier or casino dealer rotates the wheel spinning the ball in the opposite direction. The object of the game is to predict which number the ball falls in. There are various ways of betting from even money bets to single number bets. Of course, the more numbers or combination of numbers that are covered, the easier it is to win and vice versa.

Here’s the luck – if your luck is ‘in’ you can win lots in a very short time as hitting a ‘straight-up’ on the nose number will bring you 35 chips to every one you placed there!

It’s a fabulous, exciting game, loved by thousands and played all over the world. Whether it’s played with real or fun money, the excitement of guessing the winning number is not diminished. Roulette is one of the most popular casino games there is.

Blackjack

Blackjack, like roulette, has various other names. While in the UK it is mostly known by this name, in other parts of the world it’s known as ’21’ or ‘Beat the Dealer’. It is often likened to a very similar game called ‘Pontoon’.

Blackjack Game
Blackjack Game

It’s alternative names give plenty of clues on how to play. The aim of the game is indeed to make a total of 21 with the cards you are dealt. The other aim is to beat the dealer. Bets are placed before cards are dealt. Hands are open as everyone is playing against the dealer and not each other. The dealer, having dealt two cards to each player will then ask each player in turn if they want more cards. It’s a very quick game – simply put, if a player’s hand is closer to 21 than that of the dealer, they win. If not they lose – or if it’s the same then the bet is a ‘stand-off’ or ‘push’.

Once again, along with roulette, blackjack shares the top spot for popularity in main stream and fun casinos. Some players prefer it because they have a semblance of control over what happens. Some because of the brilliant atmosphere around the table. There are no long odds as there are in roulette. Winning hands are paid even money (that’s 1-1). The only other payout is for a blackjack hand and that’s defined as the first two cards totalling 21. The odds on a blackjack hand are 3-2.

So – Roulette or Blackjack?

There really is no difinitive answer. From this author’s experience, spanning over thirty five years in the business I wouldn’t put my money on either!!! Now the irony doesn’t escape me but what I really mean to say is that they are both equally as popular albeit sometimes with different audiences. Both great games, both great fun. If you’re thinking about which – why not just get both? Contact

Corporate Entertainment Ideas

With Christmas fast approaching many businesses will be looking for corporate entertainment ideas. Call me biased if you will but I can think of none better than a fun casino. The clue is in the word ‘entertainment’ as a fun casino is surely that. At least I am quite sure that my fun casinos are about as entertaining as you can get.

Corporate Entertainment at Celtic Manor https://www.celtic-manor.com/

What you see in the photo above is a snapshot of a rather large corporate event – around 350 guests. This after dinner fun casino was at the fabulous Celtic Manor Hotel. We opened right after their awards were handed out. There was any number of other attractions for guests to enjoy. However, the fun casino was (as is always the case) the clear winner. Below I’ll list the reasons why a fun casino is the best idea for your corporate party.

Reasons Why:

Risk Factor

There’s no real risk as no money changes hands with a corporate entertainment like this. However the fun money guests are given is exchanged for casino chips. The competitive element is certainly not diminished and competition is often quite fierce. The champagne prize at the end is often secondary to the winner’s kudos and colleagues’ applause.

Player Engagement

Whether or not the corporate entertainment includes a ‘plus one’, there will always be people that don’t know each other. The bigger the event the more likely that is. Now, whilst at dinner, conversation could be stilted, at the gaming table everything changes. The focus is on the game not the person beside you. pressure to communicate is off. That usually means people are more likely to engage in jovial chat and banter!

Fun Casino at Celtic Manor

Professional Service

All of our croupiers or casino dealers are highly experienced in the art of entertaining. They are very well practiced in putting guests at their ease. Not only that, their obvious enjoyment of the work they do translates to the enjoyment of the players. Banter abounds as well as the odd tip and strategy. We like to show them how NOT to gamble and that betting can be fun as long as you don’t lose your shirt.

What Makes Them The Best Fun Casino Hire ?

When searching for the perfect entertainment for your party, a fun casino could be at the top of your list. However, there are many fun casino companies calling themselves ‘professional’ that are anything but! The trouble is, if you don’t have any knowledge of casinos you could end up with a very sub standard service.

How Can You Tell?

One sure way of knowing whether a fun casino company is professionally run is by visiting the Professional Fun Casino Association http://pfca.co.uk. This body of people was established a few years ago by like-minded people in ‘the business’. They  saw  many sub standard companies with little or no knowledge of the industry. They used mostly inferior equipment and untrained staff.  Membership of the  PFCA guarantees Members adhere to certain standards that you will give potential clients peace of mind about booking.

Why Does It Matter?

When organising your event, whether it’s a private party, wedding, corporate event or fund raiser you want it to be the best it can be. You also want to trust that your fun casino hire equipment will look the same as it did on the company’s website. Sadly although there is copy write Law, with so many companies out there vying for trade. The unscrupulous (or just lazy) ones will surf the net and use the best photos they can find. There are companies that display photos of real casino tables and bring cheap Ebay felt cloths they drape over a dinner table. It sounds extreme but it happens.

Book Your Fun Casino With Peace of Mind

Whether you choose Aces or another PFCA Member you can rest assured you’ll be booking with a professional and reliable company that will bring exciting and unforgettable entertainment to your event.

CASINO THEME 40TH BIRTHDAY PARTY WESTON SUPER MARE

If you are thinking of having a casino theme party in Weston super Mare we’ll be delighted to help. Our latest was at the cricket club https://www.westoncricketclub.co.uk/for Laura’s 40th.  The venue was ideal for the number of guests plus the look and feel of the place. The wide windows and sweeping green of the pitch added ambience. Laura chose a Bond 007 theme for her 40th party. All the guests came in their finest and the champagne and canapes flowed.

The casino theme party kicked off at 7pm with champagne and canapes for the guests. Aces Fun Casinos were pleased to help with the  fun casino party theming. We brought our Bond Golden Girl banners and a couple of special agent standees. Our roulette, poker and blackjack tables were all graced with mood uplighters. This added to the casino feel of the occasion.

Our newest forty year old didn’t look a day over thirty. Fabulous at forty, Laura wore a beautiful evening gown. There was ‘no messing’ with this lady though. She had a revolver strapped to her thigh see photo…

007 themed party

Setting the scene with a fun casino theme:

A 40th birthday is definitely an occasion that needs celebrating. Having a casino theme for your party really brings an element of anticipation and excitement from the very start. There’s a lot to be said for forward planning.

Guest Invites

Be aware that not everyone you invite will be coming. You may have a guest number limit at your party venue but do make sure you ‘bump up’ your guest list to ensure a good turn out. Be sure to mention the dress code as well as the address and start/finish times.

Dress Code

There are many great ideas that go well with a casino theme party. Our birthday girl wanted a Bond theme. While this gives everyone the excuse to look fabulous, some might prefer an alternative. Why not go dressed as your favourite Bond character instead? No reason to limit this. Some inventive guests might decide to go as ‘baddies’ and act accordingly. It all adds to the fun and the atmosphere.

Food and Drink

Canapes to start are very popular. These days however the ‘grazing table’ is a big favourite. If budget allows of course a glass of champagne on arrival would be good. We must not forget the obligatory ‘shaken not stirred’ dry Martini.

Charity Casino

There are many reasons why people decide to run a charity fun casino. I can think of none better or more worthwhile than a children’s hospice can you? Jessie May Children’s Hospice is one such charity .  Jessie May is a Bristol based charity which provides palliative, end of life and bereavement care for terminally ill children and their families, https://jessiemay.org.uk/

How to Run a Charity  Casino

Aces Fun Casinos have helped raise many thousands of pounds for worthwhile causes over the years. We are honoured to be asked to help raise money with our fun casino tables in a few weeks time. The event is being held at Long Ashton Golf Club   https://www.longashtongolfclub.co.uk/and promises to be a very entertaining evening. As you can see from the flyer below, your entrance fee covers a good two course dinner and is open to members and guests. The ‘Vegas themed charity casino event will offer three popular games of chance – roulette, blackjack and poker. Professional croupiers on hand, trained to entertain as well as explain the rules to anyone that hasn’t played before.

Points to Keep in Mind

  • First and foremost the event can’t possibly be a success without the ‘bums on seats’. Whatever it takes to advertise the charity casino event – via friends and family, business contacts, advertising within and without your immediate circle. Social media is of course a great way to get the message across.
  • The aim of the game is to raise money of course. However it’s also, in most cases including this one. a way to bring members together in a social setting. A fun casino is a great way to do this.
  • There are a few ways to raise money on a charity casino. In some cases it will depend on how big the event is going to be. With good connections in the business world, the casino tables could be sponsored. Generous donors can have their businesses advertised on the casino tables. The entry price can be aimed at covering the cost of the entertainment plus profit for the charity.

On the night then, guests are given free money to exchange for chips. They play for fun and the highest roller gets a prize at the end. However, by far the most effective way is to keep the ticket price low to encourage more participants. On the night the fun money is sold for a pre-determined sum. We recommend £10.00 for each note sold. Again, at the end of the night the highest roller gets a prize.

And Finally…

On the night there are ‘do’s’ and ‘don’ts. The biggest ‘don’t I can offer is don’t give away chips thinking that people will buy more when they’ve run out. Initially the charity casino tables will be full of guests playing with their free money and not all of them will lose! A lot of people, however good intentioned, will decide their luck isn’t with them and stop. Others will not want to buy something they had ‘free’ in the first place.  Raising money for a worthwhile cause can be a daunting exercise. We are ready to help you through the process. By all means contact us either via email or call direct on 01934 420126.

What to do the night before?

Stuck for ideas on what to do for your pre-wedding entertainment? What’s the best pre-wedding entertainment around?

Looking for something that will entertain your guests?

Looking for a fun and exciting way to bring your guests together?

A fun casino will ‘tick’ all three of those! Our latest pre-wedding fun casino went down a storm. We were at the amazing Crowcombe Court where their vaults really lend themselves to parties  https://www.crowcombecourt.co.uk/

Vegas-style Fun Casino

Vegas Fun Casino

All the best wedding venues will offer deals for the night before the Big Day and it’s such a good idea as everyone can get acquainted with the venue as well as each other. What better way than over the gaming tables? Guests can relax, use their fun money to exchange for casino chips and play roulette, blackjack and poker.

Because it’s not ‘ The Big Day’, there is a lot less pressure on everyone. Wedding outfits can stay on their hangers, no one need to worry about timings – they can just go with the flow. Indeed that’s how it was at Crowcombe Court. After a welcome glass of bubbly, guests sat down to a good old fashioned fish and chip supper (mushy peas and curry sauce optional). After that they descended to the vaults where the casino was ready and waiting.

There was a stand out difference between a wedding fun casino (we’ve done hundreds) and a pre-wedding fun casino. Because the bride and groom didn’t have the spotlight on them as much, they were able to enjoy a flutter themselves. Our couple played on every table. Our Groom tried so hard to win a bet but to be honest, all his luck was on marrying his beautiful bride.

The luck of the Draw

Luck is a strange thing. Our games are all about luck. There is some strategy but I always say, my gambling advice isn’t guaranteed to make you win, but it’ll help you lose more slowly. These two likely lads thought by clubbing together they could break the bank…

No such luck as the canny lady from Scotland cleaned up with a $500 bet on a corner  winning her $4000. Here she is being presented her prize by our Bride and Groom. Looks like she built up quite a thirst.

A super night had by all.

Charity Fun Casino Night

We were pleased and honoured to bring a Charity Fun Casino Night to https://www.ashtongatestadium.co.uk/space/heineken-lounge/ Football Stadium this week. The event was being run to raise money for the under privileged children of Bristol by the Lord Mayor of Bristol’s  Children Appeal. We only played a small part in these prestigious proceedings. However, our customised fun money (showing the Lord Mayor himself on the notes) went down very well with the guests. They were happy to pay £10.00 for each $100 bill at this prestigious charity fun casino night.  Betting became ‘fast and furious’ especially towards the end with the highest roller winning a huge bottle of champagne.

There is no doubt that blackjack, roulette and poker will always be popular at a charity fun casino night. They are also a brilliant way of raising money for a good cause Profit with a Fun Casino Fundraising Night.

Will you make a profit?

What better way to raise funds for your charity or club while providing exceptional entertainment at the same time? Of course we can’t guarantee to cover the cost of hiring our tables. However,in our experience not only do we ‘wash our face’ but give the organisers a nice profit at the end of the gaming session https://acesfuncasinos.co.uk/uncategorized/fun-casino-charity-night-with-aces-fun-casino-hire/. Another point you might say is in our favour; neither the DJ, band, photo booth or chocolate fountain is going to be providing a means to recover their cost of hire let alone any extra! You could say a charity fun casino night can be the most inexpensive form of entertainment around.
